People are curious to know Ray Guy’s cause of death. 

Ray Guy, widely regarded as the greatest punter in NFL history, passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2022, at the age of 72.

The University of Southern Mississippi, the Pro Football Hall of Famer’s alma university, made the announcement of his passing. 

‘Ray Guy, a legendary member of the Golden Eagles, passed away on Thursday morning after a protracted illness,’ Revealed Southern Miss. 

It is said that Guy’s death came after a protracted illness. Ray Guy was diagnosed with COPD, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

According to Ray Guy’s son Ryan, the cause of death was end-stage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. 

Ray Guy is Survived by his Son, Ryan, and his wife. He also leaves behind his daughter Amber Guy, his brother, and his two grandchildren.

He was a resident of Purvis, Mississippi, a tiny town outside of Hattiesburg.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is an inflammatory lung condition with several symptoms, one of which is airflow obstruction from the lungs.

Other symptoms include as wheezing, coughing up mucous, and difficulty breathing. Ray Guy might have gone through it all. 

It is frequently brought on by prolonged exposure to irritant gases or particulates, most frequently from cigarette smoke.

The two most frequent diseases that cause COPD are emphysema and chronic bronchitis. 

Throughout the entirety of his professional career, which spanned from 1973 to 1986, Ray Guy played with the Raiders, first in Oakland and subsequently in Los Angeles. 

Guy, who played 14 seasons for the Raiders, is regarded as one of the sport’s greatest punters ever. 

Two hundred ten times in his career, he pinned opponents inside their 20-yard line.

During Guy’s Pro Football Hall of Fame induction in 2014, his former head coach John Madden paid him a remarkable honor.

Ray was a kind, gracious Southern gentleman who always carried himself with respect and class in the service of the game,’ the Raiders organization, and the Hall of Fame.
